Welcome to Fire Side Talkers

The Vision:

The Fire Side Talkers Program:

Creating personal and community success by embracing and sharing the outdoor ethos and skillsets of great outdoor leaders from the past and in this time.

John Elden Gibbons’ goal with this Ministry, Fireside Talkers Program, is to promote and secure as many outdoor Chaplains through Training, Support, and Programming as we can.

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” -Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV)

What is a Chaplain?

“A chaplain is a certified clergy member (Male or Female) who provides spiritual care for individuals in a non-religious organization, rather than a church congregation. Chaplains can work in government roles and serve members of the military in different locations. They can serve patients in healthcare or hospice facilities. Working in police departments, fire departments, and prisons is also common for chaplains”. These positions may have specific organization- defined education requirements not listed here.”

“And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers”;

Ephesians 4:11(ASV)

While a disciple is a student, one who learns from a teacher,
an apostle is sent to deliver those teachings to others.
“Apostle” means messenger, he who is sent.
An apostle is sent to deliver or spread those teachings to others

Since Chaplains may be ordained ministers, they can officiate ceremonies such as weddings and funerals. They can lead baptism services and provide final rites for patients who are passing away. Chaplains can also take on the role of a spiritual leader for individuals who do not belong to a specific religious community.

Chaplains can also be un-ordained church leaders: In this task they may be limited in officiating but not in community or teaching the “Good News.”

What can you offer to others as a Chaplain? Teaching, Music ministry, Comforting the shut in, the prisoner, the ill, the grief stricken.

Helping those that need Shelter, food, Water and more.

More About Our Ministry

Our goal is to advance outdoor and self-sufficiency skills to aid our community and our future throughout the world. We start this process by looking inward with the help of others and something greater than ourselves. In this task, we create a “Band of Brothers” dedicated to Family, Community, Health, Meaningful Work, Financial Freedom, Friendship, and a Philosophy of Life.

This Community and Ministry is based on the “Good New.”

Fireside Talkers?

A message from John Elden

What page have you stumbled upon? If you are here, I can assure you that something greater than you or I has brought us together in this moment? Something stirs in your heart and soul. This page and this site are dedicated to Christian men of all ages and all walks of life who seek self-reliance. A love of the outdoors. Personal and Financial freedom. Why personal and financial freedom?

“The Bible never condemns wealth. I ask should we?
The Bible never upholds poverty as the pathway to righteousness.

Paul tells us:

“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.” -Phil. 4:11-12

Fireside Talkers Statement of Faith

  1. God is speaking to us as we enter Nature and the out-of-doors if we know how to listen.
  2. Listening to God’s Word happens by reducing the background noise.
  3. All noise becomes amplified by focusing on negativity.
  4. The golden rule is ultimately followed by committing to God and letting that commitment be reflected in our words, actions, choices, and daily commitments in all things. While We may fail at this, it is with God’s Grace that we will find our way.
  5. Fireside Talkers is nondenominational, built on Christianity and the New Testament that we call “The Good News.” and the Apostles’ Creed.
  6. All other texts or books of the Bible give a historical perspective for “The Good News.”
  7. All people are God’s children and equal before God.
  8. Meditation and Prayer can put us into direct communion with the Holy Spirit and God’s Grace.

Do you need to be a Christian or a man to gain valuable information and fellowship from this place? No, you do not. This site is open to all. However, to be clear, the focus of this site is:

Thriving in God’s nature and the out of doors; Creating a freedom and self-reliance life;

Deciding who I am and what my life is about;

The Role of a Christian man in our culture and the out of doors;

How to be faithful with everything entrusted to you; Finding a life partner or reaffirming the love and commitment to your wife.

You may have stumbled you may have faltered. You are not lost. Turn the time you have into Joy and Fulfillment for you and those you could be ministering to and testifying to about the “Good News.”

Does success slips from you? Do you feel your time will never come. We have all been their.

The question is answered in this one passage:

Mark 11:24

“Therefore I say unto you, All things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” (ASV)

It is given again in:

Mathew 7:7

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye. shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh. findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

Let us not forget this:

Romans 8:31-32

“If God is for us, who can be against us?
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will
he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

John Elden Gibbons’ goal with this, Ministry: Cedar Grace Ministries Ltd. of NC Fireside Talkers program, is to promote and secure as many outdoor Chaplains through training, support, and programming as we can.
